Is this just your personal picks or does it come from somewhere? It looks like some interesting stuff to look up.

Ahh yes, /., I remember that site. I used to read it before the entire IP block for my country was banned from accessing the site. I still forget from time to time and try to go there…

I was so pleased to see Microserfs on the list.

I'm not as well-read as you, though (the ones I've read are in fact a proper subset of yours!). I've got to catch up. :)

the funny thing is, i read about half of those books while i was at tech, and about half of them before. (a few after, of course, because they're relatively recent.)

i still need to read the illuminatus sequels... i almost bought them, once, but declined to do so because i just couldn't afford it. i should do something about that, now...

I'd recommend against the Schroedinger's Cat Trilogy, if that's what you're referring to. It has an amusing premise, but could have pulled it off in about 500 fewer pages. It's mostly an enumeration of all the twisted sex fetishes RAW can imagine.

I haven't read Masks of the Illuminati yet. It might be better.

Cool list. I've been looking for authors to pick up.
Considering that the only ones that I've read are

1. The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy -- Douglas Adams
2. 1984 -- George Orwell
3. Brave New World -- Aldous Huxley
6. Dune -- Frank Herbert
15. Stranger in a Strange Land -- Robert Heinlein

I have a lot of catching up to do. Although, I've read the whole Dune series and I think I've read one of the Asimov books.

Once we get moved, I'll hit McKay's and the library with a vengeance.

You haven't read Pratchett??? He freakin' rocks!

Sorry for the trite language. I get quite silly about him. I have almost all of the Discworld books. I got Going Postal for my birthday. He's brilliantly satiric.
